How To Learn Qigong If You Don’t Have Access To Someone Like Me To Teach You

I was always interested in tai chi and knew very little about Qigong until I met my teacher Anthony Korahais. I loved the way he taught Qigong like a moving meditation - so much so that I trained with him to be a Flowing Zen Qigong instructor. So if you can't find instruction locally - this might be for you. He taught for many years in his bricks and mortar studio but wanted to reach more people. He now teaches solely on-line and has lots of information available on his blog. He has a few courses (free & paid) that you can take now and each year launches a Qigong 101 program. You can learn more about his teaching by clicking the links below.


Meditation Timer Apps

If you want or need to use a timer when meditating, both of these free options work very well. You can set various lengths of time, create intervals, and choose a sound that you like. You can find both of these in the App Store.
Meditation Timer - Simple Insights is a basic timer that works very well and the one I go to if I just need a timer.
InsightTimer - This app also offers a large variety of guided meditations to explore and discussion groups that you can join.

Hay House Radio

This 24-hour free service can be a super resource for learning from a variety of teachers, speakers and authors on a wide variety of topics. If there is something that you have been curious about, chances are there may be a resource for it here. Just click on the photo to check it out. 



There is so much great information out there and if you are anything like me, you want to keep some of it for future reference. I found Evernote a few years ago and have been happily using it ever since. You can organize everything into separate 'notebooks' and it just makes life so much easier! You can bookmark things, save articles, save e-mails or create your own notes. And its free! 

If you need to save receipts, business cards or any other type of paperwork, there Scannable app works very well too!

I read The Desire Map at the same time that I was studying to become a meditation teacher. Danielle teaches a lot about acknowledging our feelings and living in such a way that you are true to yourself and how you want to feel every day. (a link to the book is below)

Secrets of Meditation by davidji    The first book I read when I wanted to learn more about meditation - still a favourite. 

Daring Greatly by Brene Brown    How being vulnerable and 'daring greatly' can impact everything we do.

When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron. Heart advice for difficult times. Where I learned that you have to allow yourself to feel your emotions to get past them.

The Dalai Lama's Cat by David Michie Simply a lovely entertaining tale with a side of Buddhist philosophy.

Wheels of Life: A User's Guide to the Chakra System by Anodea Judith. My favourite Chakra book.

Living the Wisdom of the Tao by Wayne Dyer. This is a good readable version of the ancient Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu.

Destressifying by davidji A very readable book with lots of tips to help deal with the stress in your life. 

Rising Strong by Brene Brown     An excellent follow-up to Daring Greatly. How do you rise again after the fall? 

Paths to God: Living the Bhagavad Gita by Ram Dass. My first Ram Dass book and my favourite in my teacher training.

The Bhagavad Gita by Eknath Easwaran Since this is referenced in the above title - this was a favourite in my training too.  

Start Something That Matters by Blake Mycoskie. An inspiring read from the man who started Toms Shoes.

The Desire Map by Danielle Laporte. How do you want to feel in your life? This book will help you figure it out and has been the basis for several of my past retreat offerings.

Sacred Powers by davidji. Thought-provoking exercises to help you break through whatever is keeping you stuck.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. I honestly use the teachings from this book every day in my life. 

Polishing the Mirror by Ram Dass.  Who we are and how we can reflect our true nature. 

Your True Home; The Everyday Wisdom of Thich Nhat Hanh. 365 short daily entries that I read each day.

Soul Shifts by Dr. Barbara De Anglelis   Helping us to look at things from different perspectives.
